Watched the snow fall last night, covering emerging green with a blanket of white. I felt for the emerging flora and animals, then I relaized that tomorrow would be a warm day and this chill would be fleeting. Spring cannot be contained or restrained effectively.
Following a week of rain, grey skies and flooding rivers, I woke this morning to two crows in the front yard. Later today I saw Robins feeding in the fields, Sparrows and a Gray Squirrel making nests, a Redwing Blackbird in last falls cattails and a pair of ground nesting Killdeer.
For Shamanic Practitioners the Crow represents finding balance and upcoming change. The remainder of my observations give me clear indication that despite the wet weather, Spring is coming and with it comes the annual renewal and rebirth of life.
I found these signs comforting both for myself and for those clients experiencing significant challenges and changes in 2009. The world is experiencing a major shift. decisions and actions in the past have significantly impacted man's relationship with each other and the natural world, neither of which will stand idly by and allow themselves to be dominated.
While man is imperfect, we remain stewards of the Earth and to date we have done a poor job. Similarly our global leaders have failed in managing global business, industry and conflicts. We may yet stumble on to the proper method to correcting the economic mess as the system tries to correct itself, however if nature continues to be ignored that particular process of correction can have dire consequences.
