So you have a challenge you've been facing lately & you can't seem to find a solution. Sure, you might have tried a few things, but nothing's clicking. The puzzle piece just won't fit. When you want to be zigging, you end up zagging.
So, ask yourself:
What would your hero do?

If you're anything like me, you're being challenged right now, & all you can see is what's going wrong: I made the wrong choice, I'm feeling the wrong (aka bad) feeling, I'm afraid to choose wrong. But what is you flipped that thinking on it's head & asked the question:
What are you doing right?
Yup, I'll start off the comments by answering the question in the next few minutes. Hope you'll join in!

I got a comment recently from James, who was looking to stop his lazy ways & get his butt in gear. He knows he's talented, but mindless web surfind & video games are getting in the way of kicking some butt & reaching his goals. I have a feeling that this question could apply to him as well as to everyone else, so think of that goal you know you could reach & ask yourself:
What's the smallest step you can take?
I'll start us off in the comments. Please join me in finding that one small step & commiting yourself to take it!

What's the one habit you need to change?

Nothing's Impossible by BecauseICantPaint
There's been this air around me of fear-conquering, and I don't know why. Maybe because Luke asked me if I really wanted to take those trapeze lessons recently, and I've started really thinking about it even though I read a play-by-play of climbing up the tall ladder & it almost made me pee myself. Maybe because this post made me actually want to ride an upside-down roller coaster, while an old part of me says, “No you don't!” (but the new part of me says, “Yes you do!”). Maybe because Wreck This Journal became Scared of my Journal. Maybe because I didn't have a client for two weeks, and three weeks later I have 7 - the most I've coached at once. Maybe it's because I was so scared to get started with group coaching, and yet my first session is on Thursday.
So, your tough question today is this:
What have you done that you never thought you would do until you did it?
As usual, I'll kick off the comments by answering this question. Hope you'll join me!

After reading You Don't Have to Be the Best on Unclutterer, it got me thinking about all that creative joy that's been crushed because it wasn't The Best (says you). So, I wanted to ask you kids:
What's a goal you've walked away from that you want back?
If you find yourself getting stuck, think about what you used to love to do that you don't do any longer, & see how/if it fits into your life now in any capacity. Erin, the author of this post, doesn't have to go back to 16 hours a week at the ballet barre, but maybe she wants to find a 90 minute class once a week that allows her to piroutte to her heart's content.

There's probably something in the back of your mind that is calling you, but, for whatever reason, you're letting the phone ring & ring & ring. There's a reason that you're not answering, & it might just be because you're convinced that you're not The Best. “Why answer the call if I can't be perfect? Be right? Be the expert? Be guaranteed to be a success?”
I have a little itty bitty feelin, though, that you may just be kinda sorta almost selling yourself short just by a little itty bitty teensy weensy bit. Even if you're not the expert on what's waiting at the end of the line, even if this is all new to you, even if you're scared to put yourself out there, you should still ask yourself:
What do you have to offer?

“… that's a common theme with all our [career transition] people. Now I'm not saying that they're not worried or anxious about changing careers. Many of them have no choice. They've lost jobs. They reach dead ends. But at a certain point, they all take a risk, even if that risk is simply acknowledging that what they've been doing no longer works.”

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it: This week sucks. We've been packing for weeks to move out of our rental apartment (lease is up on Saturday!), & have been going back & forth since Oct 8th as to the closing date of our new apartment. At first we thought we'd close the week of Oct 19th. Then it was the week of Nov 9th. Then it was Oct 28th. Now it's the week of the 2nd. There's still no date set & nothing firm in site. The bad hours make me wonder why I still have hair (haven't I ripped it out by now?), while the good hours make me think, “I'm healthy & have someone awesome to go through this with & I'll always have a roof over my head. Stop being a baby.”
But it boils down to this: How can you accept what's beyond your control?
If you've learned this lesson yet, please share in the comments section (please! I beg you!). If you're facing something beyond your control, join me in trying to piece together how to accept it/not wind up bald.

This is genius, & made me think of the juxtaposition (SAT word!) between “emergency” & “breakdance”. Spam One Liners: Happy Life by Linzie Hunter
As you focus on your goals/intentions (not resolutions! Find out why on Spring next week!) for 2010, ask a very simple (but often overlooked) question:
Will (your goal here) make you happy?
If you don't know or you're not sure, close your eyes & see that goal coming to fruition (I love that word, “fruition”). If you meet it's end with a shrug, then cross it off your list or revise it until it excites you. If you see the finish line in your mind's eye & you're full to bursting, then keep that image & that feeling in your front pocket & carry it with you on your journey.
I'll be dissecting my plans for 2010 in the comments section. It won't be anything like 7th grade science class (am I the only one who thinks of frogs whenever I hear the word “dissection”?) No blood – I promise. Hope you'll join me!

These are resolutions I can get behind, even though I've recently decided that “resolution” is a dirty, dirty word. Yes, the Spring girls have made me think long & hard about intentions, and how they differ from goals & resolutions, & why they're superior in a lot of ways.
Last year, my intention for 2009 was one word: Focus. That word drove a lot of my goals & action items. Because of that, I've learned to focus (aka not have my Gmail open every minute of the day, do one thing at a time before going on to the next, not put too much on my plate) pretty damn good this year. I'm taking fantabulous group coaching sessions lead by the super cute Coach Cassandra Rae called the Simply Fearless Fempreneurs. As I'm focusing more & more as to what my full-time coaching practice is gonna be like, I'm focusing more & more on having it be a values-based business. I want some clarity as to which projects/ideas/routines I have in my head are really serving/going to serve me, & what I really want to be working on. It's funny, because there are so freakin' many things I want to do with this business (ebooks, regular books, in person coaching, workshops, retreats, yada yada yada) it's hard for me to prioritize ‘em & allow myself to really determine what's most important. But that's not the point of this question.
The point of this question comes from the first session of those group sessions, where the idea of focusing on what's working was really driven home for me. If I can see & focus on what's working (as opposed to what's not working), then I can get to the quick of what's worth looking at even further – and I can better identify the things I'm doing that I should (you know I hate that word “should”, but the context here is OK) keep doing.
So, ask yourself:
“What's working?”
If it's too broad a question, then think of the specific goal or challenge you've been working on. It might be hard to see at first (that's why I call it Tough (Question) Tuesday, people) but I promise that it's there.

Believe it or not, with all the excitement going on, I couldn't think of a “good” question (isn't that such a relative word?) for today's installment of Tough (Question) Tuesday. So I started looking through my Inspiration folder on Evernote (yup, I clip all the images that I come across that excite me & keep ‘em there for a rainy day/blog post) & came across this wonderful saying from Aimee. It got me thinking about how I'm taking myself away from an environment where I most certainly do not bloom (thank you very much!), & into one where I thrive. I grow. I stretch. I reach. I spark. I love. I connect. I bloom.
So tell me, tell me:
Where do you bloom?
Do you need a lot of sunlight, fresh air & water? Do you need a quiet room & a paintbrush? Do you need a bathtub full of suds & a glass of wine? Think about where you feel inspired, & inspiring. Think about where you are & what you're doing when the time flies & it's been nothing but fun.
Then tell me, tell me your bloomin' place in the comment section so I can help you till the soil.

Practice Saying Only Nice Things by dwell deep
In my Simply Fearless Fempreneurs (try saying that 5 times fast!) session on Friday, we were asked to write what became clear for us this past week. Without hesitation, I wrote “If I'm not nice to myself, it doesn't matter if anyone else is.” This has been both my biggest lesson & my biggest challenge in the short time of being a full-time entrepreneur, but I have to say that I've been doing well in keeping an open mind, taking deep breaths, not working myself to the point of drop dead-dom, & literally & figuratively patting myself on the back.
During that same session, I spoke with Coach Cassandra about the challenge I've been facing in prioritizing the projects I want to work on, & how I've been resisting just picking one & running with it. It was then that she asked:
What's the choice that'll treat you the nicest?
It immediately brought up that feeling: of fun, of peace, of accomplishment, of ease. “The free download!”, I responded enthusiastically. Then I put a structure in place so I could have time every day to work on it. Look for it this month! Yay!
Projects & decisions &, um, life don't need to be hard. I repeat: “Life doesn't need to be hard.” Pretty mind-blowing, huh? Think of the challenge you're facing today, go immediately to the choice that'll treat you the nicest, & then share it in the comments (because we're nice). It's nice to be nice!

Passion Fine Art Print by Lovely Journey
Lately, a fairly large chunk of my clients, when asked what they're passionate about, have remarked along the lines of, “There's nothing I like doing so much I want to commit to it, and therefore I'm not passionate about anything.” I've so far replaced this word with two clients – one now uses “like-like” & the other uses “abundance” – to take away it's weight, it's heft, it's seriousness. I've even gotten a few, “I don't think there's such a thing.” As someone who's living my passion after living another passion, & who took great pains in finding a new passion when the old one – while still a great love of my life – faded, I've been fairly taken aback by these responses.
So I have to ask:
Do you believe in passion?
And some follow-up questions:
If not, why?
Is it something you believe in, but feel is a super loaded, scary word?
If you do believe in it, are there conditions?
What does “passion” mean to you?
Answer this tough question & any/all/some/most/none of the follow-ups in the comments section, & I'll meet ya there. If you can't tell, I'm super curious about this, so I'm super looking forward to your thoughts & insights!
